Selective Catalytic Reduction, what does AdBlue do?
Selective Catalytic Reduction:
Is a method used to reduce harmful NOx from exhaust gases on diesel engines. This method relies on the treatment of the exhaust gases by means of injecting a Urea based dilution (AdBlue) directly into the exhaust pipe. The gases with Urea solution the pass into a SCR catalytic converter which reacts together to reduce the harmful NOx to produce water and nitrogen.
As AdBlue is a treatment for exhaust gases it should never be considered a fuel additive. If AdBlue is accidentally filled into the diesel tank then it should be fully empties and refilled with clean diesel.
